Astrid is a director of Primary Focus and specialises in governance,
business performance and economic development. She consults
primarily to an international charity, the single shareholder of 17 New Zealand companies in the fields of healthcare, education and
community development. She provides support to the directors and
chairs of each of the companies in their governance role building
competencies in the areas of governance, compliance and strategy.
She also oversees and monitors each company’s business performance and compliance on behalf of the charity.
Astrid has been involved in economic development leadership for
several years and has played a key role in the development and
implementation of economic development projects in the Auckland and Waikato rural economies.
Astrid has extensive experience in undertaking industry assessments,
cross-sectoral analysis, cluster development, economic impact
assessments, economic development strategies, funding, stakeholder
engagement and the establishment of community organisations. She is known for her expertise and skill in managing change and complex
projects involving a multitude of stakeholders and her extensive
knowledge and understanding of the rural economy.
Astrid has also served as a member of the Auckland Council Rural
Advisory Panel along with key industry organisations such as
Horticulture NZ, Federated Farmers, NZ Winegrowers, NZ Forest Owners Assoc, Rural Contractors NZ, Aggregates and Quarry Assoc of NZ, Aquaculture NZ and Fonterra, providing support to the Auckland Council with the development of the Auckland Unitary Plan as well as a range of other policies and strategies that impact rural activities.
She is Chair of the Puhinui Trust, a Trust established by NZ Sporthorse, Auckland-Manukau Show Jumping and Eventing Auckland to develop a premier international equestrian centre in Auckland. She is also a member of the Institute of Directors.
She has a lifestyle property in North Waikato and is an active volunteer in her local rural community.
